After compiling a behemothic set of alphabet activities with my older boys, I'm doing a letter a week with my just-turned-three-year-old. Have you been following along? This calendar week we did fewer activities than usual because we were fighting a pretty nasty bug. Just we yet packed in quite a flake of learning!
Letter E Activities
I like to print my simple alphabet books complete with total color photographs. Such a great vocabulary builder and a fun way to do the letter'south sound together! ("/eh/, /eh/ eggplant!")
He also really loves my letter books of songs and rhymes. 1 time through is never enough!
For messages C and D we did mostly process art activities. This time I wanted to try some traditional crafts. While these may not accept a lot of benefit for older preschoolers, they are a not bad learning feel for my Three.
Each arts and crafts was a puzzle of sorts – he had to figure out where to put the pieces. He did this one all on his ain, as yous can encounter ;). Learn more about this craft (and where we got our free pattern) in our circular up of letter E crafts.
Non only did he have to figure out where to place the shapes, simply he as well got practice with a glue stick. He ordinarily wants me to do all the gluing, only I got him to endeavor it himself for this one. He decided that he wanted a sad Elmo! Past the end he was starting to be able to isolate the beginning sounds of words. Matching words that have the same beginning audio is something he's still not set for.
This was a fun math activity! We used the excavator mat from Learning the Alphabet. And then my Iii rolled the numbered die (which I created using a bare dice) and put that many rocks next to the excavator. He was busy with this for a long fourth dimension.
I printed my leap counting mats, and he filled them with the right number of "eggs" (glass gems).
This time nosotros worked together to complete my letter E dot sticker folio using round magnets instead of stickers. "/eh/, /eh/, elephant!"
I cutting upward the puzzles from Learning the Alphabet, and we worked together on these. Finding the right pieces and lining them up wasn't the outcome; having the patience to become them to line up exactly was difficult for him. He doesn't ordinarily brandish as many perfectionist tendencies equally my oldest son, but now I'k not and then sure!
Of class, we love to read! These were some of our favorites from our collection of letter of the alphabet E books. I was thrilled that my boys loved But No Elephants as much as I did when I was a kid. That'south definitely ane to own!
For a sensory activity, I cutting upwards some of the pictures from Learning the Alphabet and put them inside of Easter eggs. And then he dug for them in this bin of colored rice. He liked opening and closing the eggs (not bad for fine motor!), and running his hands through the rice.
Together, we worked at finding upper and lowercase eastward's in my letter of the alphabet find page (I'm all the same working on these, then scout for the free printable collection soon!). This was a nice whole alphabet activity because nosotros identified other letters that he knew as well.
